Charis joined BSG Ecology in 2024.
Prior to joining BSG Ecology, Charis worked as a data analyst, processing camera trap data and producing population density estimates for conservation purposes.
Charis has conducted and assisted in a range of ecological surveys for protected species, including birds, bats, reptiles, great crested newts, badger, otter, water vole, and hazel dormice. She holds a Certificate Bat Acoustic Analysis (CoBAA) and can confidently carry out analysis of bat acoustic data.
Charis has also carried out UK Habitat Classification surveys and condition assessments for biodiversity net gain and calculations using the Statutory Metric. She holds a Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) from the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland at Level 4. She enjoys bird ringing and is a trainee with the BTO, working towards a C permit.
Charis completed an undergraduate degree in biology at Angers University (France) and then studied at Imperial College London and completed a MRes in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Research. Both her research projects focused on ecoacoustics and ornithology.
