Rhys joined BSG Ecology’s Newport office in April 2023. Prior to joining BSG Rhys volunteered with the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales where he helped deliver a range of habitat and estate management work across nature reserves in West Glamorgan.
Rhys has experience in carrying out surveys for a range of protected species including bats, great crested newt, hazel dormouse, reptiles, otter and water vole, and has assisted in Phase 1 habitat surveys. He is also involved in collecting data for the National Dormouse Monitoring Programme at a site in Caerphilly.
Rhys graduated with a zoology degree from Swansea University in 2021. His dissertation focused on the impact of meteorological variables on amphibian species diversity within the Atlantic Forest.
In his free time Rhys volunteers at Celtic Wildflowers, where he assists in the cultivation and sale of native British plants. He is also a keen birdwatcher and a member of the Gower Ornithological Society.
