Naomi joined BSG Ecology in 2024 and has worked in ecological consultancy since 2016.
Naomi has experience working on a variety of projects including residential, energy storage and solar sites and has experience of project management, ecological impact assessments and habitat management plans, as well as assisting with licence applications including monitoring of otter holts, and badger setts for closure. Naomi also has experience working on a variety of biodiversity net gain assessments and is qualified to undertake River Condition Assessments.
Naomi has carried out a wide range of habitat and botanical surveys as well as protected species surveys including bats, badger, otter, water vole, barn owl, reptiles, and great crested newt (GCN). Naomi holds a Natural England and Scottish Natural Heritage survey licence for GCN. She also holds a Level 4 Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC).
She has a particular interest in botany, bats and badgers, continuing to progress her botanical skills through training and botanically focused projects. She has volunteered with bats in Australia and Malawi, as well as the UK, developing her bat handling skills. She has also volunteered with the North East Essex Badger Group to monitor setts and provide evidence to support wildlife crime prosecutions.
Naomi has a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Manchester and graduated from the University of Leeds with a masters in Biodiversity and Conservation. For her masters research project she investigated the release of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and particulate organic carbon (POC) into upland water catchments by moorland vegetation as part of a wider project funded by Yorkshire Water.
