Megan joined BSG Ecology’s Newport office in April 2024.
Megan has experience conducting a range of protected species surveys including for great crested newt, otter, water vole, pine marten and red squirrel. She has experience carrying out bat activity and roost emergence surveys and is also competent in using bat call analysis software.
Megan has experience in breeding and nocturnal bird surveys, as well as species specific surveys such as for nightjar. She has coordinated a review of the findings of over 30 years of pre and post construction nightjar survey and monitoring at Welsh wind farm sites. The work was published in Milvus, the Journal of the Welsh Ornithological Society in November 2025.
Megan is a C-permit holder under the British Trust for Ornithology’s ringing scheme with the Gower Bird Ringing Group and assists with collection of data to understand how bird population trends at the national, regional and local level, and the range of sites they use.
Megan graduated from Cardiff University in 2023 with a BSc in Zoology and in 2024 with a MSc in Ecology and Conservation with a distinction. The Degree courses included research projects on the landscape genetics of the Western leopard toad and the abundance and diversity of Anuran species within the Bornean rainforest.
