21 Oct BSG celebrates 27th anniversary
Early October saw the whole team travel to Cardiff to celebrate our 27th anniversary.
The day started with a presentation reflecting on what has been a very successful first year as a 100% employee-owned company and how we can build on this progress in the coming year. This was followed by a review of some of the research projects BSG has undertaken, why we feel research is important and where there are opportunities for everyone to be involved in future research. Principal Ecologists Guy Miller, Dr Tom Flynn and Dr Jim Fairclough then ran a very insightful training session on grassland creation and enhancement. After lunch, the whole team split into two groups for a guided tour of Cardiff Castle which gave everyone an insight into the rich history of the area, this was followed by reception drinks, dinner and a quiz at the hotel and a chance for everyone to socialise together in the evening.
One of the main highlights of the day was simply the opportunity to meet up with colleagues and chat face-to-face in a relaxed positive atmosphere. Thank you to all who made the day such a success, particularly to Sarah Norris for the organisation, and to the quiz master and presenters for their preparation and effort.
“This was my first practice day and my first chance to meet many of my colleagues from across the business. The talks on Employee Ownership and grassland creation were very interesting and relevant. What followed was a great night out in Cardiff to let off some steam after another busy season. I’m so pleased to work with such knowledgeable, kind, and friendly people at BSG.” Harry Glass, Ecologist
“Practice Day was really enjoyable and also valuable, giving me the opportunity to meet colleagues in real life. I already feel that I have positive working relationships with colleagues in our other offices, but this was enhanced after spending time with them socially.” Sarah Pastor, Business Support
We look forward to next year.
