06 Oct BSG Ecology celebrates 26th anniversary
Early October saw the whole team travel to the Peak District to celebrate our 26th year of operation.
Our venue for much of the get together was Thornbridge Hall, a Jacobean-style country house set in formal gardens. Here we had a morning of talks and discussion about some of our more interesting and challenging projects and what we have learned from them. Following lunch, we headed to Castleton to explore Peak and Speedwell Caverns. The former is a natural cave system prosaically known as the ‘Devil’s Arse,’ and was home to some of the last of Britain’s troglodytes (who made money from rope making). The latter is a former lead mine that can only be traversed by boat. Following drinks at the hotel, we returned to Thornbridge Hall for dinner, and a quiz.
It was a very enjoyable get together, a great opportunity for the newer staff to get to know more established team members, a chance to talk face-to-face in a relaxed atmosphere and a positive way to celebrate another successful year. Thank you to all who made the day such a success, particularly to Lindsey Russell for the organisation, and to the quiz masters and presenters for their preparation and effort.
