Daniel Watson

Daniel joined BSG Ecology in 2024. He has over 5 years’ experience in consultancy, in addition to over a decade of undertaking a range of surveys as a freelance ecologist.

Daniel’s role involves a range of protected species surveys, project management and the production of a range of written deliverables including technical reports, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitat Regulation Assessments, Appropriate Assessment, species-specific mitigation and management plans and fee proposals.

Daniel is an experienced field ornithologist, having undertaken a range of surveys across the UK over the last decade, and his knowledge of bird identification and distribution has led to involvement within the tourism sector, as well as contributing to a range of research projects. He is a competent ecologist, with experience in undertaking and supporting protected species surveys for terrestrial mammals, invertebrates, reptiles and amphibians. Daniel has also been involved in species translocation efforts (including reptiles, amphibians, brown hairstreak and roman snail), and has a wide range of experience supporting contractors in an Ecological Clerk of Works capacity.

Outside of the work environment, Daniel leads tours in the ecotourism sector, where his passion and experience for the natural world allows him to engage with the public.
