Katie joined BSG Ecology in 2024. Prior to joining BSG Ecology, Katie worked as an ecological surveying assistant and volunteered with the Peak District National Park where she assisted with habitat management work including tree planting.
Katie has conducted a range of ecological surveys for protected species including bat emergence, re-entry and activity surveys as well as reptile, otter and nesting bird (including barn owl) surveys. She also has experience assisting in Phase 1 habitat surveys.
Katie graduated from University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in biology. For her undergraduate final year project, Katie investigated the effects of climate change on earthworms. Her dissertation looked at the role of urbanisation in genetic differentiation between rural and urban populations.
Outside of work Katie is a keen hiker and runner and enjoys exploring the hills and mountains of the UK.
