17 Apr Promotion of the Profession: Ecology Careers Workshop with Newcastle University Students
BSG Ecology were pleased to attend Newcastle University’s Ecology and Conservation Careers Workshop earlier this year. The annual workshop gives students the chance to meet with employers in the ecology and conservation sector, receive feedback on CV’s and take part in mock interviews. Ecologists from our Newcastle office presented examples of the wide range of projects and sectors BSG Ecology are involved in, as well as some of the recent advances in the use and application of technology and innovation in ecology.
The event was a great opportunity to introduce the students to the industry, provide a taster of what it is like to be an ecological consultant, the positive steps they can take to boost their credentials before entering the industry as well as providing hints and tips on the process of writing applications and attending interviews.
“As a key recruiter of ecologists in the North East, BSG Ecology’s presence at our workshop was invaluable as they were able to provide guidance to students on careers with their organisation and how to successfully apply for a place with them. It’s so important to have people like Alex and Clare who can bring insights into what it is like working in a specific sector and inspire our students to explore all the opportunities open to them on graduation.” Toby Price, Learning Partnerships Facilitator, School of Natural and Environmental Sciences, Newcastle University
